Quicken software has been helping people and home businesses manage their finances since 1984. Quicken software is a product of Intuit Inc., a company founded in Palo Alto, Calif., which has developed many popular finance programs like Turbo Tax. Today, Quicken software has more than 15 million users. There are many types of Quicken products, including but not limited to: Quicken Home and Business, Quicken Bill Pay, and Quicken Payroll.

The Quicken Home and Business software is used by a great number of small businesses and home businesses. It gives individuals the ability to manage both their business and personal expenses. In addition, users are also able to track their tax deductible expenses such as mileage or household utilities, which can prove to be an incredible help come tax season. The Quicken Home and Business software also features a business center, which provides home business owners a quick synopsis of the activity on their business accounts. Another great feature is the ability to allow businesses to make customized invoices including their business logos, when using this Quicken software.

With Quicken products, such as Quicken Bill Pay, users are able to easily organize their stacks of monthly bills in order to avoid the racking up of late fees. When using this Quicken software, individuals will be notified by e-mails informing them of their incoming bills. Once the bills arrive, users can then pay their bills online using their Quicken software. Quicken Bill Pay also helps users avoid missing their payments and thereby eliminating late fees by allowing them to schedule their bill payments up to a year in advance. Another feature, which helps keep those late fees at bay, is that of scheduling recurring fixed payments, such as mortgage and insurance. Quicken Bill Pay also let’s people steer clear of the time consuming task of writing and mailing checks.

When using Quicken products like Quicken’s Payroll Premier, small business and home businesses can better organize their employees’ payroll records. For instance, with Payroll Premier business owners can track each employees’ total salaries, benefit time, tax deductions, and allowances. Home businesses can also distribute their employees’ paychecks in-house. Quicken software allows them the opportunity to issue payroll on a weekly, monthly, or bi-monthly basis.

Although Quicken software has many features that are beneficial to individuals and home businesses, it also has some drawbacks. Quicken software has received some wide criticism for its uncompromising upgrade policies and software quality problems. Some Quicken products force its users into upgrading software due to their sunset policy, which disables some of the software’s online features after a certain amount of time. It has also been noted that some of the Quicken products are lacking in the quality of its features for Macintosh users; Macintosh owners are not able to reap the same amount of benefits as PC users.

Quicken software such as Quicken Home and Business, Quicken Bill Pay, and Quicken Payroll Premiere, provides a better solution for individuals and home businesses to manage their finances. Although Quicken software and products are used by millions worldwide, it has still received criticism for some of its policies and quality of features.
